The less days there are to celebrate, the more likely you are to make time to enjoy them 🥳

Only 2 wonderful occasions stood out today 🎉

    Celebration of Life Day!

What better day there to be! You could literally do anything to celebrate today. You have risen to the occasion and you haven’t even realised it, by simply existing! It could be called ‘Festival of Human Existence’!

    Clashing Clothes Day!

Double denim? Patterns with patterns? They shouldn’t match- but they do-ooo! Make a statement and become a trendsetter. How bout being inspired to hold a fancy dress party or even better a ‘clashing clothes/fashion no-no’ party!

Which Awareness Day is in the National Days News today?!

Apart from awareness days created by the UN for great causes, there are also some more low-key Awareness days like one of them today- days that make you stop and go-“why is this an awareness day and not a National Day?” Well when it’s about an animal like today, it does mean that the numbers are dwindling so even though we’re aware of the animal in zoos, we sometimes aren’t aware of how happy they are in their natural habitat so it’s a chance to see what we can do to help them stay at a high population by doing research.

    Take a Walk Outdoors Day!

Enjoy a lovely little walk, by yourself or with a loved one including furry friends! This is your chance to connect with nature on an outdoor adventure, even if it’s a few steps down the road to the corner shop! Don’t forget your watch or phone to count your steps!

    Penguin Awareness Day!

Seems interesting as most of us are already aware of penguins and the fact they are real creatures! These flightless wonders have been popular adorable animals for years and years. How many species can you name though? To celebrate, use your favourite penguin item or watch one of the many penguin movies – examples, Mr Popper’s Penguins, Penguins of Madagascar, Surf’s Up and Happy Feet.

    National Cheese Lovers Day!

What cheese is made backwards? Edam! Had to do a cheesy joke 😆You could have cheddar, swiss or your other favourites. Don’t dismiss a Cheesestring or Babybel. You could do a cheeseboard or a chessboard or a cheeseboard that looks like a chess board- you could even go all out and make a charcuterie board ft. cheese! Or celebrate by telling cheese jokes or cheesy jokes- they better be gouda than this one.

Today is another positive day ft. Blue Monday that’s not so blue!

Question: What happens when the National Days one day don’t seem positive enough? Well it doesn’t mean we celebrate NOTHING- you’ll have to see what happens as we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it…

    Blue Monday (BOO👎)

    BREW MONDAY

Everyone’s likely to be sad on Blue Monday but did you ever know why?! It was started in 2004 for a marketing campaign by Sky Travel, capitalising on January Blues e.g. missed NY resolutions or bored of dieting with the point of view that people would be more likely to purchase holidays and getaways to have things to look forward to. Since then many charities and companies have turned things around to ‘combat’ the Blue Monday Blues by running campaigns like Brew Monday as a day to check in with a friend over coffee and promote mental health awareness.

    National Popcorn Day!

Whether you’re a bit salty or way too sweet, there’s a popcorn for you! When you get a plain flavour like salted- it’s naturally dairy-free and gluten-free so when you’re hosting a party or gathering, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser! If you’re looking for something more adventurous then you know where to find your favourite brands for their fancy-flavoured popcorn treats.

    National Good Memory Day!

Do you have a good memory? Don’t worry, it won’t be tested haha! This day is more about sharing good memories you have with another person, looking back in old photo albums including your camera roll. Smile and laugh about fun things that happened and that you did, not forgetting to make plans for more fun memories with that person to look back on another time! 😊

    Introducing Pop Culture Birthdays!

Many pop culture franchises including movies and TV shows have birthdays and these also have been made into National, World or International Days or some don’t need a category e.g. Star Wars Day May 4th

    National Winnie The Pooh Day!

This year marks 100 years since the legendary bear first took to our screens so it’s a very special occasion. With his dear friend Christopher Robin and all his furry pals, there’s no limits of adventures they can have in The Hundred Acre Wood. Why not celebrate by eating ‘hunny’ or playing a game of Pooh Sticks? 🙂

    National Gourmet Coffee Day!

If you’re going to make a coffee, you might as well do a nice one – using the ingredients you’ve got, make yourself an extra frothy or extra creamy caffeinated beverage with something like foam art or whipped cream. If caffeine isn’t your cup of coffee, then you can always get or make something light like a frappe!

    National Thesaurus Day!

Words, words and more words- many think it was once a very intelligent dinosaur, just kidding! If you Google a word followed by ‘Thesaurus’, it will come up with synonyms for the word to use instead, for example if you’re doing a piece of written work and you’ve already used ‘excited’, you could say ‘thrilled’ or ‘hyped’. If you want to challenge yourself and advance your vocabulary, try an app like Wordle or another word puzzle game.

    Today’s Top 3 National Days!

Everyone will celebrate the first one without much effort!

    Art’s Birthday!

We consume art every single day- movies, music, theatre, modern creations on social platforms – why not go to your happy place and act like you normally do – then you’ll celebrate without even realising!

    Cable Car Day!

If you’re lucky enough, take a ride to the skies with this exciting mode of transport that started in San Francisco with the traditional tram system. If you’ve got a tram in a city near you, see if you can hop on (and off ofc), or recreate it, doing something that resembles a cable car to celebrate this sliding and soaring National Day. How bout using a lift?!

National Use Your Gift Card Day!

If you have loved ones who really know you and got you the gift for Christmas that lets you choose your own gift, there’s a suggested day to make use of your gift card! Whether it be for shopping, dining, gaming or something more quirky, even if you don’t use it on this day, it reminds us that we have them and should use them at some point. Even better if another loved one’s birthday is coming up and seeing this gives you gift inspo! You’re most welcome 🙂

There are also World Days & International Days!

What’s the difference between these and regular National days? Some more serious International Days are organised by the UN to raise awareness for certain causes and communities. The fun International Days mostly mentioned have unknown sources but have been celebrated for a number of years.

International Hot and Spicy Food Day!

Whether it’s mild or extra hot, add a little spice to your day with spicy food itself, or seasonings! So how bold are you prepared to go? Try something new and en-spicing (enticing)

    National Book Publishers Day!

Only celebrated since 2020, this day celebrates the individuals behind making people’s dreams of releasing a book come true. They are one of the main reasons we all are entertained and learn new things from books. Find your reading or writing inspo and transport yourself to new worlds.

    Appreciate a Dragon Day!

This day honours the mythical beasts we have all grown to love in pop culture. Celebrate by reliving your favourite fantasy film memories of franchises such as How to Train Your Dragon, Zog by Julia Donaldson and Harry Potter.

Every so often there’ll be videos on how I, the author ‘Nationaljen’ goes on adventures to celebrate certain National Days – there’ll certainly be REALLY fun! If you’re reading this, you must be a party person who LOVES celebrating being alive 😀
