    Dr. Seuss Day!

“Oh, the places you’ll go! Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!” With the magic of Dr. Seuss books you’ll surely be creatively inspired to innovate, explore and master along the way some brain-teasing tongue-twisters! “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” πŸ’—

    National Old Stuff Day!

Anything that is BY (before you) I’m guessing you consider old. Have a look through your older relative’s things (provided you have permission!) and ask them about items you don’t recognise like old tech. Watch vintage movies and explore charity shops to see what trinkets you can find.

    National Egg McMuffin Day!

Everyone’s fave go-to fast food breakfasts- with a range to choose from, we celebrate the global phenomenon that is a perfect wake-me-up for a morning commute.

    National Barista Day!

Time to pay thanks to your local coffee-making superheroes and show your appreciation by telling them it’s National Barista Day- perhaps give a tip.

    National Pig Day!

The cute snuffly farm creatures who roll about in mud deserve a special day for themselves and it’s this day here. Watch pig-based film & tv – e.g. Peppa Pig, Charlotte’s Web & play Angry Birds.

    Fun, food & bathtime books

    National Pizza Day! πŸ•

Wanna pizza the action? Get or make your own perfect tomato covered dough with cheese- (or you might choose a BBQ base- you’ve got great taste if you do!πŸ‘Œ) Toppings are endless- make some new combos you’ve never tried before or get some new dips or a different crust than you would usually. That’s if you’re into trying new things- if you have a go-to order (perhaps with sides) that you’re perfectly happy with, no worries at all. Look up pizza stores and see how they’re celebrating like if there’s special offers- for example Ask Italian and the annual (first come first serve) free pizzas at Pizza Express! That’s Amore of a reason to celebrate- good luck!

    National Chocolate Day!🍫

So much to be said for this National Day! You could have bars, round sweets, hot chocolate drinks or anything with chocolate in – you might even have a favourite fragrance or skincare product infused with the sweet scent of chocolate. How bout doing the Chocolate (choco choco) party dance or listening to the songs from or watching movies from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory franchise including Wonka with the song, ‘You’ve Never Had Chocolate Like This’

    Read in the Bath Day!πŸ“–πŸ›

If you have a bath at home- cosy up with your favourite book, comic or magazine and escape into another world – (that’s if you’re reading fiction). What genres are you into? If it’s non-fiction like a self-help book or recipe book, get inspired in your state of calm.

Another day to make you feel happy- well it wouldn’t be a day to make you feel sad would it?!

    Kite Flying Day!

“Let’s go fly a kite” as Mary Poppins once said. This joyful way of spending time outside often gets forgotten but is good for any age. Watch Mary Poppins and get inspired. If the weather’s not great where you are, why not order yourself a kite on this day then save it for a sunny day- just don’t get your kite caught in a tree!

    Laugh and Get Rich Day!

It’s Laugh o’clock! You should have a giggle every day – a day without laughter is a day wasted. However, this is one day you should laugh so much that you feel rich- not from money but from happiness and friends, feeling grateful for the time you’re living in because you have funny things to laugh at.

Breaking the rules for celebrations in a good and scientific way

National Ice Cream For Breakfast Day!🌞🍨

I scream you scream we all Scream for Ice Cream For Breakfast Day! Or get up and froyo- if that’s your preference. How amazing that there’s one day a year that you can live a childhood dream that you would never usually be allowed to do?! Early and it’s ice cream time! Celebrate with every flavour imaginable- get the family or friend group together to share a large tub or have mini sundaes in tubs, cones or bowls. Neapolitan is trending and salted caramel & cookies & cream are here to stay!

    National Rose Day!🌹

Firstly think do you know anyone called Rose who you can tell about this?! Then onto the flowers. Pick one or a bunch – just check them in the shop to make sure every flower is nice before purchasing. Many who are away from their partners on Valentines, choose to celebrate on this day for the romance element of a kind gesture. By all means, if you are together for Valentines Day, no need to be pestering your partner about doing something to celebrate this one- the extra money isn’t worth it unless you’re celebrating another special occasion that calls for roses. Hey- here’s a compromise, how bout getting some Roses chocolates?! Most importantly, don’t forget the iconic line from Miley Cyrus “I can buy myself flowers” πŸ’πŸ₯°

    National Periodic Table Day!

Ah yes the periodic elements. The table of all chemical elements used in Chemistry. You could try and memorize as many as you can if you’re up for a challenge and improving your IQ! There are solids, liquids and gases but can you pronounce all the names correctly in UK English? something to look up but a heads up the ones people struggle on are ones like Roentgenium and Praseodymium. You’re not alone if they seem crazy hard to pronounce- the truth is they’re not that common in conversations unless you’re doing Advanced Chemistry. Have fun with the Periodic Table Song that lots of people use to help remember them.

Inspired things to eat and ways of eating- it’s also a numbers game

    National Chopsticks Day!

Celebrate by having some traditional Asian food like sushi, noodle dishes or cool modern street food. These utensils used to eat with are very famous but tricky to master. Don’t worry about using them if you’re invited to dinner at an Asian cuisine restaurant – nearly every restaurant I’ve been to, provide forks if you ask nicely. Learning to use chopsticks is nevertheless a pretty sweet skill up there with learning a new language – give it a go!

    National Number Day!

Whenever you’re reading this, I bet you will have absolutely celebrated this day without realising! If you’ve looked at the time or date on your phone or watch today – that’s it you’ve lost- you interacted with numbers!πŸ˜‚ Time to get those brains working on important numbers you might have to do- could even be a dance number- 5,6,7,8! Call a friend or family member on their phone number or count 3 things that are good about today. Play games and puzzles like sudoku or watch clips of the Countdown maths round. Count yourself in to do a musical number, 1, 2- 1,2,3,4! Wouldn’t be complete without rolling your eyes at 6 7.

National Frozen Yogurt Day/National Bubblegum Day!

Two, cute yummerific treats are celebrated today so here’s a joint post to honour both of them. First is Frozen Yoghurt or Froyo if you will – comes in all flavours and sizes with sweet or fruit toppings including sprinkles! Secondly big up Bubblegum – a distinctive taste that when there’s bubblegum flavoured things like blue ice cream sauce, then it is okay to swallow but you should always get rid of your regular bubblegum (after you’ve finished blowing bubbles of course!) Hey! If you want to celebrate both days at once grab some bubblegum flavoured froyo w bubblegum sauce πŸ˜‚

As we’re getting closer to Valentine’s Day, we’re finding so much still to love

    National Optimist Day! ☺️🌈

Positivity at its most extreme is celebrated today! what’s not to love?! Think of the most optimistic person you know- it could be a loved one, a celebrity or influencer or perhaps the members of the band Bastille and just think “I’m gonna be an optimist about this”

    National Weatherperson’s Day! 🌞🌧️

Don’t you agree we should have a time to celebrate the dedicated weatherpeople on our screens who provide the UK & Ireland with daily scientific weather updates?! It’s such an underrated job role in the TV world that should be honoured more. Even though we know UK weather gifts us storms and hail at times, (how nice of it!) deep down I bet to do this job is a breeze πŸ˜πŸŽ‰To clarify, I’m not saying it’s easy, but that it must be fun and rewarding.

    National Chocolate Fondue Day! πŸ«πŸ«•

Take a plunge (preferably with food on a stick) into a chocolate fondue paddling pool you made for yourself. Even it’s not a fancy one you hired out or ate out for, if you melt any kind of chocolate and display it in a bowl or cute container, that sounds like a fondue to me! Have some friends or loved ones over and have a little gathering- I bet it’ll be a FUN-DO! On the topic of types of chocolate you could use, why not try Nutella as it does also happen to be World Nutella Day though that was too similar to have a write-up all on its own and we only choose 3 fun National Days to celebrate each day!

Real Success Stories from Our Customers

    National Homemade Soup Day!

Ooh the warm comforting taste of soup- especially when it’s homemade. You could make tomato, chicken or there’s many versions of vegetables that go well in soups- have a little search around for recommendations. Whatever you choose, you’re sure to feel all cosy this winter with the perfect pick me up, especially if you are recovering from a sore throat or have lost your voice.

    World Read Aloud Day!

Take the time to read things out loud today. If you’re not a confident speaker, perhaps this will help! Whether it’s revision notes, preparing for an interview or your first public speech for a friend or event, do your best that’s all you can do! If it applies to you, don’t be afraid to ask event organisers or managers for reading materials in a dyslexia-friendly font. Did you know that if you read aloud instead of in your head, you are expected to take in up to 20% more information? Go for it and see what you can accomplish.

    Global School Play Day!

Time to celebrate the nostalgic time of childhood school plays. It could have been a traditional musical your school paid license fees for, one the school music teachers wrote themselves or you were prancing around in the school nativity wearing tea towels on your head! I’m sure we’ve all had more than one school play so you probably have experienced at least one of these scenarios, whether you remember them or not- who knows this might have just unlocked a memory.

Kind gestures for animals and a cake made from something animals eat

    National Feed the Birds Day!

Much like the famous song in Mary Poppins by the bird lady, think of her and how we should feed our fluttery friends. Seagulls and pigeons ask for too much so I’m not talking about them- I mean nice park and garden birds who visit every so often. Get a bird feeder or look up how to make one yourself. They enjoy nuts, seeds, berries, raisins, apples and even crushed up Weetabix!

    National Carrot Cake Day!

Ah the sweetness of a seemingly healthy cake (because it’s made of a vegetable)! Traditional carrot cakes have raisins also, similar to Sticky Toffee Pudding but they’re of course optional to include when baking yourself. Another feature is that the icing is often made with cream cheese rather than the more common fondant. Another thing to note is that if you have a nut allergy, they are often mixed and decorated with walnuts so you can definitely make your own version without.

    National Doggy Date Night!

Have you got a furry friend you haven’t spent enough time with lately? Well tonight you can make it up to them on Doggy Date Night – get them a treat, one of their favourite things, a new toy or find that thing you bought a bit ago but forgot about! Let your dogs have their dog dinner near you so you eat together. Be mindful some people like to give their dogs human food but not everything is good for them. Be sure to keep them away from grapes and chocolate – most important as they’re poisonous to our furry friends.

    Another day of loveliness😊

    National Boost Self-Esteem Day!

Time to boost others self-esteem and your own. Think of ways to make those you know happy giving each other confidence and if your friends don’t often make you feel good, maybe you should re-evaluate your friendships and ask questions you wouldn’t usually to see how good of a friend they are. Point is everyone deserves friends without judgement, jealousy or competition that are there to lift you up!

Groundhog Day! Groundhog Day! Groundhog Day! Groundhog Day!

The most popular thing that comes to mind when people say the name of it is the classic movie where the title character relives the same awful day over and over again! The celebration revolves around gathering round the community groundhog, also known as a woodchuck to see it predict the weather. If Phil the Groundhog sees his shadow when he emerges from hibernation, according to tradition there is to be 6 more weeks of winter. If it doesn’t see its shadow, spring shall arrive early!

    National Hedgehog Day!πŸ¦”

The furry but spiky mammals that hibernate during winter. Found in our British gardens and parks, these adorable creatures have been turned into plushies over the years because even though their spikes are sharp, we imagine cuddling them so what’s better than a plushy version of a hedgehog! There are of course some classic book characters of a hedgehog such as The Wind in The Willows and Mrs Tiggywinkle by Beatrix Potter.
